The Damask rose, renown for its fragrance has been used for thousands of years since the middle ages, originating in what is now believed to be Iran. The rose's sweet floral aroma has been associated with the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, a prominent figure in Muslim culture.
Many flowers are used as herbs in Chinese medicine including honeysuckles, peonies, and of course, roses. The Chinese Rose Bud (Flos Rosae Rugosae) is a common herb that has been popularly used among women for generations due to its ability to aid with many pesky menstrual symptoms and for beauty by improving the complexion.
