The formula is named Jade Screen after the function of protecting the body from incoming pathogens much like a 'screen door' made of Jade. It is a popular herbal medicine taken for allergies and cold prevention.

Our bodies and the external environment interact with each other on a continuous basis. In Chinese medicine, the external environment, known as the '6 Evils' can lead to the development of diseases when the body is too weak or unable to adapt to those environmental changes. The 6 Evils consist of: wind, cold, dampness, dryness, heat, and summer heat (we’ll get into this more in another post!)
Wind is the number 1 way that pathogens enter the body because of how invasive it is, just think about how easily wind goes through clothing and small cracks. Wind can then carry in the other harmful factors like cold, heat, dryness, and dampness! The body’s immune system is designed to quickly react to these external pathogens to keep us healthy. In Chinese Medicine, there are various types of Qi (energy) in the body, one of which being the Wei Qi= The Protective Qi. The Wei Qi is a component of the immune system, the first line of defense against pathogens that try to enter the body. This formula has additional functions of supporting the immune system!
